The Ipswich 'Sackers' Witches won comfortably on Thursday night in the second leg of the League Cup semi final against the Edinburgh Monarchs but this didn't stop the league leaders from progressing through to the Final.
It was always going to require a superhuman effort from all seven Ipswich riders to pull back a 22 point deficit from the first leg. And unfortunately only three Witches, Danny King (14+1), Nico Covatti (13+1) & Ashley Morris (8) looked commited enough to the cause. The rest of the riders simply didn't up their game and the team paid the price for their underperformance.
Edinburgh were missing number one Craig Cook through illness and despite being without his firepower the visitors contained Ipswich until the latter stages of the meeting when they eased off the gas having accomplished their goal.
The Witches can now only turn their attention to Plymouth and see how many points they take from their final Premier League fixtures. If they fail to overtake Ipswich there are still the PlayOffs to compete in.
