Ipswich Speedway are very excited and pleased to announce that their new team sponsor for 2016 is Tippers ‘R’ Us, part of the Trucks ‘R’ Us group, who are based at Kesgrave. The team will be known by the company website name, Ipswich ‘tru7.com’ Witches.
Alongside this the team will be rebranded and a new website will be launched mid-February to reflect this. New race suits will be on display at press & practice on Wednesday March 9th.
Witches Director of Speedway, Chris Louis had this to say about his new sponsor: “This is all great news for the club - I’ve known Guy Nicholls (Managing Director of Tippers ‘R’ Us) for a long time, going back to my moto-cross days.” “We have always remained friends and he has been a huge help to our club over the years. I’m delighted his hugely successful local company is on board with us. “I would also like to say a big thank you to Sackers Recycling for their five years of excellent sponsorship and I’m glad they will still be involved with the club next season too.” Guy Nicholls is a long-time motorsport fan, especially of speedway. “I’ve been enjoying speedway for 40 years,” he said. “It’s an exciting sport and I want to help Chris Louis and the team get more local people back to Foxhall Stadium. “When the stadium is half-empty, that’s no good. We want to get more fans there and I’m hoping to work with Chris to help do so.”
With the 2016 fixture list released tomorrow, there is a noticeable twist to the Witches traditional Easter & Bank holiday weekends, as this year they will not race at Foxhall on those dates for the first time in living memory.
Good Friday fixtures have always been especially popular, drawing in big crowds, but Chris Louis has sacrificed the financial benefits in order to keep a full Witches 1-7 on track as much as possible. “Danny King, Lewis Kerr and James Sargeant all ride in the Elite League,” Louis said. “We don’t have first call on them and Bank Holidays would see us missing one, two, possible all three of them, and I’m not putting out a Witches side packed with guests.”
The full 2016 fixture list will be available on the website from 9:00am today. Annual 'Meet the Riders' event has been confirmed as Wednesday 9th March - full details to follow shortly...
