Biography
Hawkins made the transition from rider to team manager after the 2015 season having suffered from injuries that year whilst riding for the Witches. He started his career in the sport in 2000 with the Sheffield Prowlers and had prolonged spells at Swindon and Somerset in his career. Hawkins became British Under 21 champion in 2004. He first rode for Ipswich in 2010 and would return in 2013 until he finished his career, a spell during which he became club captain. Since becoming team manager Hawkins has led the club to consecutive Championship play-off appearances in 2016 and 2017 and reached the Knockout Cup final in 2017. In 2019, following the retirement of John Louis, Hawkins became a co-promoter at the club as he took the team to the Premiership Play-Off final. In 2023, Hawkins managed the side to Premiership Knockout Cup glory.
