Biography
An Ipswich legend is coming home for 2026 as Scott Nicholls returns to his boyhood club for the first time since 2010 – for what he admits could be his final season on the shale. Despite making his league debut for Peterborough, it was Ipswich where Nicholls first experienced the sport, before becoming a Witches star for 1995. He was part of the club’s immortal 1998 Elite League treble-winning side alongside legends Tony Rickardsson, Tomasz Gollob and Chris Louis, and, after a two-year stint at Poole, went on to become one of the club’s leading stars from 2001-2004, winning the first two of his record seven British Championships in Ipswich colours. After a spell with Coventry, where he won the 2005 Elite League and an Elite League treble in 2007, he had another stint with the Witches in 2009 and 2010. His broadcasting commitments have left him focusing solely on Cab Direct Championship action in recent years, but Nicholls is very much back in the Rowe Motor Oil Premiership for 2026 as he bids to end his career on a high in his hometown.
