Ipswich sensation Demi-Blu Harris stormed to her first official FIM championship after winning the FIM Women’s Speedway Gold Trophy for 250cc under-16 stars in Croatia on Saturday.

Harris, who regularly trains at Foxhall after Tru7 Group Witches home matches, blazed to a 12-point, four-ride maximum to lift the title ahead of Australia’s Ruby Chapman and Germany’s Lenja Tebbe.

Making her first trip abroad in 2025, the 15-year-old won the Youth Women’s Speedway Gold Trophy of Croatia, also with a 12-point maximum, and she repeated her heroics at Donji Kraljevec’s Speedway Stadion Milenium, former home of the FIM Speedway GP of Croatia.

This is the first time the 250cc competition has held official FIM championship status, and the competition was staged as a support event for the FIM Women’s Speedway World Cup for 500cc riders, won by Germany’s Hannah Grunwald.

Harris also took part in the two-day FIM Women’s Speedway Academy on Thursday and Friday, which saw women from nine different countries hone their skills on and off the bike, with coaching from former Speedway GP winner Matej Zagar, plus FIM Track Racing Commission director Armando Castagna, FIM Speedway race director Phil Morris and FIM Long Track race director Glen Phillips.

The Ipswich talent was delighted to claim a global gold medal. She said: “It was good. I enjoyed riding with all the other girls – they pushed me hard. Thanks to everyone in Croatia, especially (local organiser) Darija (Pavlic), for putting this event on. I really enjoyed my racing! It was great to be involved in some strong, competitive races that pushed me all day. I had to work hard in every race, stay focused, and keep looking for opportunities to improve my speed.

“The competition was tough, which made it even more enjoyable, and I loved the challenge of having to give 100 percent every time I went out on track. It was a brilliant day of racing, plenty of learning, and lots of fun alongside great riders. I am looking forward to the next one!”

Everyone involved in the Tru7 Group Witches congratulates Demi and we look forward to welcoming her back to Foxhall soon.
