Ipswich Tru7 Group Witches newcomer Tobiasz Musielak can’t wait to master the Foxhall track – with a bit of help from his new teammates.
Musielak makes the move from Birmingham on a tantalising 6.63 average for a rider who has previously won two Rowe Motor Oil Premiership titles with Swindon in 2017 and 2019, and another with Sheffield in 2023.
While Polish riders are renowned for starring on the sport’s fast and furious circuits in Eastern Europe, Musielak has shown his class around Britain’s tight and technical tracks, having debuted in the UK with Wolverhampton in 2015.
Now he’s determined to master Foxhall in 2026, and he fancies his chances with the help of local experts like skipper Danny King, local legend Scott Nicholls, 2019 Witches star Richard Lawson and 2025 title winners Tom Brennan and Jason Edwards, plus British debutant Philip Hellstrom-Bangs.
He said: “They are good guys in the team. I have known them for years. Those guys are really good and experienced in Britain. They know the tracks; they know everything about British speedway. Of course, I would like to get some lessons from them because the Ipswich track isn’t very simple.
“I have ridden many times at Ipswich, but if you know someone who has been riding British tracks for many years, you can always learn. It’s a really nice team.
“Ipswich has been a good place for me in the past, so hopefully I can do some good things there this season. I have always liked small tracks and something a bit grippier.”
Help will also be on hand from new Witches team manager Paul Hurry, who is no stranger to the Pole.
Musielak said: “I have known Paul for years actually. I think I met him for the first time in 2015 when I was a Wolverhampton rider, and he was working with Peter Karlsson. He’s a really good guy.
“I think I have a good relationship with everyone in the team, so I think it’s going to be a nice season for us.”
Musielak is pleased to have secured an opportunity in the Premiership after new Witches promoters Richard Coleman and Andrew Chisholm made their move following Mayfield’s takeover of the club.
He said: “First of all, I want to say thank you to Maciej Pietraszek. He is my manager and my mechanic in the UK. He also does the Polish league with me, and he is the guy who sorts out everything around me. Thanks to him for making this happen.
“We were waiting for the right moment to sign a contract in the UK because we knew how the situation is in British speedway. We were waiting until the end – the last possible moment to sign anything.
“The only club that asked us to sign anything was Ipswich. We knew that the owner of the club has changed, so that was a good moment to start a conversation with Mayfield. Thanks to them, and I am really happy that I have joined a team, especially the British champions. We want to keep it that way. Hopefully we can win another championship.”
