Ipswich Tru7 Group Witches host the biggest event in the club’s 75-year history as two nights of 2027 FIM Speedway World Championships action come to Foxhall Stadium on August 13 and 14.
Suffolk hosts the best riders in the world, as the likes of six-time world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik, Aussie icon Brady Kurtz and Great Britain skipper Robert Lambert, line up in the 2027 FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain – Ipswich on Saturday, August 14.
The weekend also features FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship action as the Speedway GP stars of tomorrow compete in the FIM SGP2 of Great Britain – Ipswich on Friday, August 13.
Both events are expected to attract fans from across the UK and around the world, with all eyes on Foxhall for two nights of high-stakes action.
Witches chairman Richard Coleman can’t wait to see the icons of the sport testing themselves on the tight and technical Foxhall track.
He said: “This is a truly special moment in the history of this club as Foxhall Stadium joins the Speedway GP calendar alongside legendary venues like our sister club Wroclaw, Torun, Prague’s Marketa Stadium, Vojens Speedway Center and, of course, Warsaw’s iconic PGE Narodowy.
“Like many of these great venues and clubs, we have plenty of history too, and I’m sure staging our first FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain – Ipswich will rank right up there among our greatest nights.
“For many years now, Speedway GP has been raced on the wide-open, fast tracks of central Europe. A true world champion should be able to perform on all surfaces and in all conditions, and there’s no doubt Foxhall will pose Speedway GP riders a completely different test compared to anything they experience on the continent.
“Along with building a strong Witches side to challenge for the 2027 Rowe Motor Oil Premiership title, upgrading the Foxhall track will be a key focus for us this winter.
“The hard work has already started ahead of next year, and we hope the Witches supporters, as well as speedway fans from around the UK and beyond, join us for what will be an incredible weekend of racing.”
The 2027 Speedway GP World Championship climaxes with a title-deciding double-header at Gillman Speedway in Adelaide – the first time SGP racing has been staged outside of Europe since 2017. Rounds also take place in European capitals Warsaw, Riga and Prague, Polish cities Wroclaw and Torun, as well at Denmark’s legendary Vojens Speedway Center and Croatia’s Speedway Stadion Milenium in Donji Kraljevec, with an 11th round to be confirmed.
