HAWKINS: I’M HAPPY WITH WHERE WE ARE

Tru7.com’ Witches Team Manager Ritchie Hawkins says he has no complaints with a 48-42 defeat at Peterborough and adds that he is happy with how he team are looking after claiming another away point.

The Witches took the Panthers to a last heat decider which the home pair of Jack Holder and guest Josh Grajczonek recorded a 5-1 in but Hawkins says it could have gone either way.

“I think on a different day, with the rub of the green we could have got the victory,” said Hawkins. “I have got no complaints and we go away happy as I’m not sure there was much more we could have done. We put in a good performance.”

It is the second week in a row that the Witches have produced a battling performance on the road to claim a point and the boss says he is happy with how the team are coming along.

“I think we have looked solid away from home in the past few meetings and I am really pleased with where we are at. We will need to keep improving before the end of the year but at the moment I am quite happy and there are no complaints about the team or anything.”

Reserve Connor Mountain scored paid eight in the defeat and Hawkins believes his confidence is growing as all the riders have areas to improve in still.

“Connor showed his liking to Peterborough and his confidence is increasing. He rode intelligently and overall everyone did some good things but everyone probably threw a few points away. There are areas that can be looked at to improve on.”

As usual the Witches were backed by plenty of support from Suffolk and Hawkins believes they will go home proud of their team’s efforts.

“We get good travelling support, especially at Peterborough, so it was disappointing not to win but I don’t think there can be any complaints about the effort from the team or the performance we produced. I’m sure a lot will go home proud of their team.”
