Ipswich boss Paul Hurry says Tru7 Group Witches skipper Danny King will be assessed after he suffered a high-speed spill in their 54-36 loss at King’s Lynn on Thursday.
King picked up some unwanted drive as he battled Stars racer Jan Kvech on the final lap of heat 11, taking a heavy fall into the fence.
It was his final programmed ride, and King took no further part in the Rowe Motor Oil Premiership contest, which saw the Norfolk side clinch the bonus point 94-86 on aggregate.
It was a tough blow as Witches continue a busy spell with a trip to Leicester on Monday. Hurry said: “Danny picked up and went into the air fence hard.
“He took a knock between his shoulders and his neck. His head went back, and he was lucky not to knock himself out.
“The fence there is foam, so it’s a little bit harder than an air fence. He was lucky to get away with what he did. He just gave himself a good whack.
“He’s going to see how he goes ahead of Monday. He will go and see a physio tomorrow and just see what they say.”
British racer Richard Lawson led the Witches scoring on 14 points from six rides, including a crucial win as a tactical substitute in heat nine, while Polish star Tobiasz Musielak recorded seven.
Hurry was also buoyed by the efforts of his reserves as Jason Edwards scored three paid four and guest Kevin Juhl Pedersen collected two and was unlucky not to add to his tally.
Hurry said: “Kevin was good. He spun around in the first race, but he had never been there before. He then led Speedway GP rider Max Fricke for two and a half laps in his next one. He got passed and went chasing him, but when he was pushing Max, Chris Harris passed him.
“He was on the pace and mixing it. He was unlucky to get passed when he was chasing, but that comes down to experience and track knowledge. He learns; he takes things on board, he listens to what the rest of the boys are telling him, and he goes out there and gets on with it.
“Jason mucked in too. He did his job. They all tried. I made the changes needed to get us back into the meeting, and thankfully, Richard did the business with Tobi as a tactical sub.
“You know what you are going to get from Richard. He’s a trier. He enjoys riding his bike. He can beat the best in the world when he wants to.”
The Witches face a home and away double-header with Leicester next week, meeting the Lions at the Hydroscand Arena on Monday, before welcoming them to Foxhall on Thursday. Advance tickets for Witches’ home clash with the Lions are available online HERE now.
