Ipswich skipper Danny King has been forced out of the Tru7 Group Witches’ trip to Leicester on Monday.

King crashed out of Witches’ 54-36 loss away to King’s Lynn on Thursday, picking up some unwanted drive and hitting the foam fence hard in heat 11, suffering a rib injury.

He rested for Cab Direct Championship club Plymouth’s matches at Scunthorpe on Friday and at home to Redcar on Saturday but has not recovered in time to captain Ipswich at the Hydroscand Arena on Monday.

The Witches will cover his absence using rider replacement at No.2, meaning everyone apart from No.1 Tom Brennan can take an extra ride. Ipswich club legend Scott Nicholls will take over the captaincy for the evening.

There is also a change on the Lions side, with their No.1 Ryan Douglas ruled out following a crash during Polish club Poznan’s visit to Lodz on Sunday. Sheffield’s Josh Pickering guests in his place.
