WITCHES CROSS THE BORDER

Posted on

13 August, 2016

The ‘Tru7.com’ Witches face a quick turnaround as they head further north into Scotland to take on the Glasgow Tigers on Sunday (3.00pm).

The Witches were in action on Saturday evening at Workington taking the Comets all the way to a last heat decider which the home side came out on top in to take a 46-44 win. The Witches welcome back Nico Covatti to the side for Sunday’s clash after he missed the trip to Workington due to his European Pairs commitment. Covatti’s return means the Witches switch back to their original riding order at Glasgow.

The Tigers were also in action on Saturday at Rye House winning 46-44 against the Rockets. The Tigers are without the injured Rene Bach and will operate Rider Replacement at four in his absence. Danny Ayres returns for the home side after injury.

The Witches have a couple of riders with good experience at Glasgow with Ben Barker starting the season with the Tigers and James Sarjeant making a return to his 2015 home track. The Tigers have a 100% record at home and were victorious earlier in the season when the two sides met at Foxhall, so the Witches have a point to prove on Sunday.

Team Manager Ritchie Hawkins is hoping the good form continues up at Glasgow and says he is pleased to have Covatti back in the side.

“We will go there looking for a win, we’ve got a team that will go well round there and we’re a good side in good form,” said Hawkins.

“Everyone has experience round there and everyone has their role to play. Nico has put in a massive effort to get back for the meeting and he should be good at Glasgow and we’re pleased to have him back as he is a very good rider. ”
