Ipswich guest Kevin Juhl Pedersen admits regular action in Britain is making all the difference as he lines up for the Tru7 Group Witches away to King’s Lynn on Thursday.
Juhl Pedersen made his Rowe Motor Oil Premiership debut away to Northampton on Monday, scoring a promising six paid seven points from five rides. It was a match-winning performance as the Witches won 46-44.
The 24-year-old races for the Glasgow Tigers in the Cab Direct Championship, but he is struggling for meetings with Danish champions Slangerup and currently doesn’t have a team in Poland.
His impressive efforts against the Foxes earned him the chance to cover for the injured Philip Hellstrom-Bangs in the East Anglian derby, and Juhl Pedersen is relishing the opportunity of regular action in the UK.
He said: “I am just enjoying my UK experience. It’s my first season over here since that time I rode in the SGP2 World Under-21 series and competed at a round in Cardiff in 2022. I am enjoying it so much.
“I am getting so many more races. I have been struggling. When you are not under-21 anymore, it’s tough to get on a squad in Denmark because there are only five spots on a team there and half of them are GP riders almost.
“Now that I am over 24, it’s hard to get a spot in Poland as well, so I am very happy to race in the UK.
“Glasgow has helped me with a mechanic and a van and also with finding a place to stay while I am here. They have really helped a lot.”
Juhl Pedersen didn’t put any pressure on himself for his Premiership debut on Monday, before putting himself in the shop window for more regular top-tier action with a fine display.
He said: “I just went in with the mindset that I am just going to do the best I can do and ride it as it if was any other meeting.
“Ipswich had already told me before I came over that I could get a ride at King’s Lynn too, so I had already planned it with the mechanics. We will see what it leads to and take it from there.”
