New Ipswich Tru7 Group Witches team manager Paul Hurry already has one eye on the future as he aims to bring his academy stars to Foxhall.
Witches staged a closed training session on March 25 and some of Hurry’s students took the opportunity to join the Rowe Motor Oil Premiership champions at the track for a skid.
Hurry has coached some of Britain’s next generation of riders at his Try Speedway events alongside returning Witches favourite Scott Nicholls.
The new Ipswich boss looks forward to putting more youngsters through their paces at Foxhall as the club aims to inspire Britain’s future riders.
He said: “I spoke to Andy (Chisholm) and said, ‘Can we do some youth stuff?’ As part of our Try Speedway events, if we can bring youngsters on and take them to Ipswich, that would be great. With British Speedway in mind, the youngsters are important, bringing them on and making Ipswich strong in that aspect as well.
“If we can make the sport grow and have Ipswich involved with some strong youth development and young riders coming through, it sets a precedent for the future. We could put second halves on for riders to have a little bit of a competition or practice, and it will be full every week. This gives the fans something else to watch and get behind.”
The Witches launch their 2026 season with East Anglian derby action in the Premiership Knockout Cup at home to King’s Lynn on Thursday.
