‘Tru7.com’ Witches Team Manager Ritchie Hawkins was disappointed to lose 46-44 at Peterborough on Easter Monday in the Championship but believes the performance sets the team up well for the week ahead.
“I’m disappointed we lost, we came here to win but we’ve got a consolation point and it was our best away performance of the season so far,” said Hawkins. “I think the boys showed great fight and spirit and gave us everything we asked for. Going forward if we carry on like this and giving that sort of effort we have to be looking at a win on Thursday at Redcar instead.”
Cameron Heeps was the Witches’ star man scoring 11 and the boss says the two reserves continue to impress.
“That’s two good meetings in a row for Cam, he was brilliant and looked awesome and that is how good he can be. We all know how talented he is so hopefully his confidence is up now. Connor (Mountain) was brilliant again and our reserves impress me every meeting with their attitude, preparation and their racing.”
There were plenty of Witches fans in attendance at the East of England Showground and Hawkins says the team appreciate the support.
“It was a lot better than our last away match where we had a lot of travelling support and we really appreciate it. We’re disappointed not to give them a win but grateful for their support.”
